STARON-FILM was set up in 2005 by Małgorzata Staroń and Wojciech Staroń, and is based in Warsaw. Our principal aim is to produce author driven, ambitious fiction films and creative documentaries, sometimes in difficult shooting conditions. Besides international co-productions, we focus on discovering new emerging directors in Poland. We present real stories, touching deep human issues in a poetic way, portraying inner human needs, and fascinations. The most important for us is the artistic level of our productions and their international presence.
Our documentary Six weeks (dir. M. Krawczyk) won IDFA Grand Prix in 2009. The documentary Argentinian Lesson by W. Staron with multiple awards and intensive festival presence received among others Spotlight Award at Cinema Eye Honor celebration in 2013. We also coproduced a fiction film The Prize directed by Paula Markovitch copr. Mex/Pol/Fr/Ger that won two Silver Bears at Berlinale 2011.
We finished Polish-Argentinian coproduction dir. Diego Lerman Refugiado that was premiered in Cannes 2014 in Directors’ Fortnight.
Two documentaries: Brothers dir. Wojciech Staroń & The last season dir. Sławomir Witek will be completed soon.
We are in postproduction of our new fiction film Latvian-Polish coproduction The Dawn dir. Laila Pakalnina.
